CCASC MEETING MINUTES August 18, 2012 Mike & Deb Levey’s Home The meeting was called to order at 5:20pm by President Mike Levey. 6 clubs were present with Camper Country, Doylestown, New Haven, & Randolph absent. MMSP to approve the minutes from the March 22, 2012 meeting. MMSP to approve the financial report as presented showing an ending balance of $3,224.50. The maintenance checks are here and were distributed to the clubs in attendance. The remaining checks will be mailed out. The County Liaison Report was given by Al Kaltenberg. He noted that the maintenance checks need to be cashed within 90 days. Some of the maintenance packets sent were lost at the County office, so please remember to keep copies! We have a new representative at the County office and we do not have a DNR director for the snowmobile program. All CRP land needs to be renewed at USDA by landowners on or after October 1, 2012. Clubs are encouraged to talk to these landowners, as they will need a map of the trail crossing their property to submit with the application. Trail maintenance packets for the 2012/2013 season are available on the CCASC website. Hard copies will be available at the next meeting to be signed by the individual clubs; therefore attendance in September is crucial. The AWSC Report was given by Deb Levey. The Wisconsin Youth Outdoor Expo in Beaver Dam was held in May and attended by thousands of 4th & 5th graders. Thank you to all those who donated their time to help teach our area youth about snowmobiling. Deb attended the AWSC Convention and reported the officers remain the same as last year. Any updates to the CCASC website should be sent to: JoyceJansen5@gmail.com. Donna White attended the summer Directors AWSC meeting which was held July 14, 2012 in Fond du Lac. She reported they will eliminate the Friday night band at the 2014 Convention. AWSC club membership packets were sent out to all membership chairpersons. Please check to be sure your club has received it. The next summer Directors meeting will be held June 21-23, 2013 in Wautoma. The two AWSC raffles made $36,443.29. Thanks to all who sold tickets. The Insurance Committee is working on a guideline explaining the breakdown of club and liability insurance. AWSC membership for last year was 25,508 families, which was down by 1796 from the prior year. Commercial membership was also down last year. The CapStep program is on hold at the Capital. The trail funding is coming up short by approximately $1.5 million. The AWSC Youth Program is now 5 years old. She encourages all clubs to get their youth involved. The Youth Report was given by youth rep Tyler Brozek. He attended the AWSC Convention. They are trying to get more new active youth members and are looking for sponsors to help pay for up-coming trips to Canada, New York, and Denver to help start Youth programs. Sponsorship forms were passed out to the attending clubs at the meeting. A motion was made to donate $500 to KAOS. After discussion, an amended motion was made to donate $250 which was seconded and passed. OLD BUSINESS Trail maps are current, therefore we will not be printing new maps. Maintenance checks are being dispersed. AWSC will be hosting the 45th International Snowmobile Congress in Green Bay on June 6-8, 2013 and will be looking for sponsors. Contact Donna White for more info. NEW BUSINESS A concept from the Snowmobile Rec. Council meeting is to have a trail pass fee added to our 2-year snowmobile registration so the funds can be designated to the trail fund with no administration, etc taken. President Mike Levey awarded scholarships: $250 to Dani Johnson who will be attending Edgewood College for Accounting; and $250 to Austin Underdahl who will be attending UW Platteville for Agronomy. Thank you from both scholarship winners! A picture and notice will be sent to DeForest Times, Poynette Press, & Portage Daily Register.
